Ariege Pointer dog

The origin of the breed is attributed to “white dogs of the king” that were rather heavy and slow for today’s tastes. At the beginning of the twentieth century they were crossed with the rangy Braque Saint-Germain. The result was the current breed: a hard and fast working dog for hunting.

Description

The Ariege pointer grows up to sixty-seven centimeters tall and Ariege Pointer Dogweighs around thirty kilograms. Its coat is fine and tight, in white or white-orange-brown. The hanging ears are relatively low and set far back, are very thin and long, and slightly twisted.

Use

The dogs of this breed are mainly used as hunting dogs and retrievers. Though impressive because of its size, its suitability as a guard dog is rather doubtful.
