American Pit Bull Terrier Dog

The American Pit Bull Terrier is a pure breed dog, originating in the United States. It was forged from dogs imported from the UK and has had pedigree records over 100 years. They were used as fighting dogs American Pit Bull Terrieruntil they were banned in 1976 and are now being raised as pets and athletes in sports law (although it remains the favorite breed in dog fighting, now carried out clandestinely).

They are not to be confused with other races mistakenly called “pit bulls,” Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, American Bulldog breeds and the even more “distant” Dogo Argentino.

Some believe that the American Pit Bull Terrier is the same as the American Staffordshire Terrier. The confusion began when, in the early 30s, the American Kennel Club decided to give another name to the breed, American Staffordshire Terrier, so that it would no longer be linked to the past (The American Pit Bull Terrier was originally used as a fighting dog).

The American Pit Bull Terrier was not recognized by the American Kennel Club, while the American Staffordshire Terrier, which is slightly smaller, has been recognized.

Loyalty, Bravery and Courage 100% APBT

His character is good-natured with people, confident and affectionate. It is advisable to socialize it with other dogs from puppy to adulthood as its aggression towards those will be less.

Female American Pit Bull Terrier

Today the race is going through a difficult time for the bastardization of other breeds. For commercial reasons when you look for massive dogs they are misshapen, with exaggerated heads or they are a American Pit Bull Terrier1certain color, influenced by hip hop and blue pit bull fashion, by having more acceptance and a greater contribution to the APBT’s cigars.
The American Pit Bull Terrier is recognized by several records, with ADBA and UKC the oldest and most prestigious.

Standard FIAPBT

Head: head exaggerated, it will simply lead to excessive weight subtract functionality when performing any type of work. An APBT, for all purposes provided in the head should appear two-thirds the width of the shoulders, and be 25% wider at the cheeks than in the neck to the base of the skull.

From the back of the skull to the stop should be the same distance from the stop to the tip of the nose. The muzzle is straight and square. The depth from the top of the head to the bottom of the jaw is important. The jaw is closed by muscle temporal fossa, exerting pressure needed by the animal on the coronoid process. The head will have a wedge shape when viewed from above or sideways, and when viewed from the front, is round.

Eyes: The eyes are round and separated. They are often yellow in color as the photo shows the white dog with gray.

Teeth: It supports the scissor bite (preferred), pincer and mild prognathism. The tusks, must slide the upper, behind the lower. Its nose color depends on the dog if it is a white dog it should have a red nose.

Neck: The neck should be heavily muscled to the base of the skull.

Rear axle: This is the drive train of any animal with four legs. About 80% of the work of an APBT, develops in his hips and hind legs. A long and sloping hip is extremely important, as it will support more point to the femur, and it must be shorter than the tibia. The hip should be broad. Being this way will lead to a wide lower back, allowing a large area for insertion of the gluteal muscles and biceps femoris, which are the biggest power train engines.

Front: The dog must have deep ribs. They are broad above, tapering towards the bottom. The ribs house the lungs, which are not deposits, but bombs. The ribs act as a bellows. Its effectiveness is related to the difference between the amount of contraction and expansion.

The depth of the ribs, gives more room for larger lungs. The shoulders should be slightly wider than the ribs at the height of the eighth rib. Shoulders too narrow will not bear adequate muscle structure, but also a structure too wide shoulders and the animal slows down and adds too much unnecessary weight.

The scapula should be 45 degrees or less to the angle to the ground, and this will be broad and flat. Elbows should settle flat, with the humerus in a route almost parallel to the spine. The elbow has to get below the ribs.

The forearm should be only slightly longer than the humerus and this should be thick and solid, almost twice the thickness of the metatarsals, at the height of the hock. The front legs and shoulders must be capable of withstanding a lot of work and the thickness of the same here can be a virtue. The feet should be small and inserted high in the ranillas or trabaderas.

TAIL: The tail is inserted under and must be long until shortly before reaching the hocks. This has a thick base decreased until the end. You must have a hand crank when the dog is relaxed.

Coat: The coat can be any color or combination thereof. It should be short and strong. The gloss coat generally reflects the health of the APBT which is a vital sign.

Skin: It should be thick and loose but not wrinkled, except the neck and chest, which should be loose enough to show some vertical folds.

Height at withers: The height at withers of the males can vary between 38cm to 48cm, and females, from 35cm to 45cm.

Weight: Despite what many people believe, the APBT is a small dog breed at most medium. The weight of males can vary from 16kg to 28kg, and females from 13kg to 27kg. APBT can weigh three or four kilograms above these weights, but certainly should be fat.

Appearance: The APBT must be square when seen sideways, the distance from the shoulder to the hip point is equal to the distance from the shoulder to the ground. The American Pit Bull Terrier is a complete player. Its morphology is applied to its speed, power, agility and stamina. It must be balanced in all directions, too much of one thing robs you of another, when performing any type of work.
