Catalan Sheepdog

Catalan sheepdog (Gos d’atura catala in Catalan, perro de pastor Catalan in Spanish) is a Spanish breed of dog recognized by the FCI. A Catalan Sheepdogbreed standard was set in 1929. The Catalan sheepdog comes from the Catalan Pyrenees; his ancestors were probably the Portuguese and the long-haired Pyrenean sheepdog.

The Catalan Shepherd is about 55 inches tall and 25 kilograms in weight. Its fur is multi-colored, but it seems plain from a distance. The primary colors of the dogs are tawny, sand, gray or black.

The fur is either curled or flat, and rough, with abundant undercoat. On his head he has beard and mustache, and eyebrows that do not cover the eyes. His ears are set high, and are triangular, thin, pointed, and hanging close to the head.
