Dog Socialization

The term is used in dogs, the process is identified by the dog dealing with his environment, learning to know their rules and commitments.   Socialization Dog Socializationtakes place intensively during the first months of life. Already available with the puppy are appropriate housing conditions provided by the following processes taking place:

Socialization with other dogs (Learn communications)
Socialization with other animals (cats, guinea pigs, birds, horses)
Socialization with strangers
Habituation to environmental stimuli such as a horn, bicycle, aircraft, explosion noises (New Year’s Eve Pops), crowds and traffic.

The most important phase of the socialization of the dog extends approximately from the second to 15th week of life and may be replaced by “puppy play sessions” or “character match”, as they are supported to offer many dog clubs. A second important phase of socialization is puberty.

A carefully socialized dog has learned to cope, peaceable and digested with strangers, children and other pets. The development of each dog is largely determined by their socialization and education. Poorly socialized dogs have difficulties adjusting to their environment.

They tend to be anxious or be aggressive in their behavior and have other behavioral disorders. Socialization processes can not take place in the first few weeks.  To what extent consequent behavioral disorders take place, depends on the further development of the dog and is very individual.

Basically, small dogs are more popular than large ones. Thus, breeds like the Dachshund have an age of up to 15 years to achieve, in exceptional cases even 20 years. Larger, heavy breeds such as the German Mastiff do not get much older than 9 years.   According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the record reached by an Australian Cattle Dog, who worked in Australia as a shepherd, was 29 years.
